Nirmala Sitharaman, Finance Minister presented Union Budget 2020-21 On February 1, 2020. In Budget 2020, FM announced several measures to boost the country’s education sector. Here are a few Takeaways for the education sector:
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that Rs 99,300 crore will be allocated to the education sector, while Rs 3,000 crore for skill development in FY15.
Online Degree Level Education Program:
It is proposed to introduce degree level full education program in the budget. It will only be submitted by institutions that are ranked in the top 100 in the national institutional ranking framework.
New Education Policy:
“The Center will soon announce a new education policy; The government got more than 2 lakh suggestions on this,The Finance Minister said.
National Police and Forensic University:
The government has also applied to establish National Police University and National Forensic University in the country.
Bridge course for professionals:
The government will also design special bridge courses for teachers, nurses, para medical staff, caregivers.
Internship for Young Engineers:
The central government is also planning to start a program for urban local bodies to provide internship opportunities to young engineers.
PPP Model in Healthcare Sector:
The government has also proposed to link medical colleges with the district hospitals on PPP model to deal with the shortage of doctors.
Trainee Training Program:
To boost employment, the budget proposed apprenticeship embedded degree / diploma courses in about 150 higher educational institutions by March 2021.
Foreign direct investment in education sector:
The Finance Minister announced on Saturday that the government would also take steps to attract external commercial borrowing, foreign direct investment (FDI) in the education sector.
Under its “Study in India” program, Ind-SAT is proposed to be conducted in Asian and African countries. It will be used to bench-mark foreign candidates receiving scholarships for study in Indian higher education centers.
National Recruitment Agency:
It is proposed to establish a budget National Recruitment Agency (NRA) As an independent, professional, specialist organization for conducting a computer-based online general eligibility test for recruitment to non-gazetted positions.
