আজি চাওঁক- HRD Ministry Releases Digital Education Guidelines
In this regard, HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ tweeted, “Introducing ‘PRAGYATA’: Guidelines on #DigitalEducation for school heads, teachers, parents, and students containing recommended screen time for children, tips on coping with mental/physical stress during #DigitalLearning & more. The PRAGYATA guidelines include eight steps of online education that is, Plan, Review, Arrange, Guide, Yak(talk), Assign, Track, and Appreciate.
It says “While digital or online education cannot replace classroom learning, it has some advantages. It allows flexible and personalized learning at the speed of the learner and one can continuously augment and expand content through digital means. The rapid increase in internet penetration and various government initiatives such as Digital India campaign have created a conducive environment for moving towards digital education.“
The manual further reads, “This shall be complemented by the recent launch of PM e-Vidya by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), a national campaign which will unify all efforts related to digital/online/on-air education. This includes, DIKSHA (one nation – one digital platform), TV (one class-one channel), SWAYAM (online MOOCS on various topics), IITPAL (platform for exam preparation), AIR (through community radio and CBSE Shiksha Vani podcast) and study materials for differently abled students developed by NIOS. All these areas of e-learning shall be expanded and developed further in a systematic and unified manner by the MHRD in a phased manner.“
The guidelines outline suggestions for administrators, school heads, teachers, parents, and students in the following areas:
1. Need assessment.
2. Concerns while planning online and digital education like duration, screen time, inclusiveness, balanced online and offline activities, etc level-wise.
3. Modalities of intervention including resource curation, level-wise delivery, etc.
4. Physical, mental health, and well-being during digital education.
5. Cyber safety and ethical practices including precautions and measures for maintaining cyber safety.
6. Collaboration and convergence with various initiatives.
